These classic rectangles and squares are the best material ever for mosaics! Lightweight, easy to cut, easy to hang - just glue straight to them!

Skeewbackers are waterproof, rot proof, ultra lightweight, clean, and easy to work with. You can cut them with a utility knife if you like. There is no preparation, other than your hanging kit installation first, and no need to seal them. Watch how to install the hanging kits.

They are constructed from a rigid polystyrene foam core sandwiched between waterproof membranes. You can frame them, hang them, or permanently install them. If you wish to paint the edges, use appropriate paints with no solvents, as solvents will compromise the foam core center. Do not use Spray Paint! Acrylic paints are the best. You can also put grout or thinset over the edges.  Any minor imperfections that are deemed by seller to not impact a mosaic are no reason for returns.

If you plan to hang it, you can add a hanging system designed for the backer, or you can use your own. Remember, install hanging kit before you start to mosaic. All our backers are perfect for indoor and outdoor!

Cutting: 1) for short, straight cuts, use a straight edge and a utility knife; 2) for curves, cut with a jigsaw; 3) for longer straight cuts, use a table saw.

NOTE:  1/2" thick boards may have the Laticrete name or dots printed on both sides. If you can see it through your glass, use thinset (mortar) as your adhesive to block it from showing through.

Boards will be 1/8" shy of the size shown due to a slight cutting tolerance.
