Skeewbackers are waterproof, rot proof, ultra lightweight, clean, and easy to work with. You can cut them with a utility knife if you like. There is no preparation, other than your hanging kit installation first, and no need to seal them. Watch how to install the hanging kits.

Use appropriate paints and adhesives with no solvents, as solvents will compromise the foam core center. Acrylic paints are the best. Do not use spray paints. Before you mosaic your Skeewbacker, read this!!! You can also put grout or thinset over the edges.
