Martin Cheek is a master at creating fused glass and has partnered with Skeew to supply their Skeewbacker shapes for these wonderful mosaic kits available only through Skeew.biz. Each one is unique and no two will be alike. They are bespoke.

Martin Cheek is a versatile mosaic artist who initially founded the technique to incorporate glass fusions into his mosaics. In so doing, he essentially transformed the art and added unique textural interest to his work. The intricately detailed glass fusions, all made by Martin in his workshop, take his mosaics to another dimension, adding varying degrees of reflectivity and energy, something not easily obtained using traditional mosaic materials.

Our backers are Skeewbackers which are ultra lightweight, waterproof and do not need to be sealed. Just install your hanging system and you are ready to start your mosaic.  Remember to install hanging kit before you start to mosaic. These Skeewbackers are constructed from a rigid polystyrene foam core sandwiched between waterproof membranes. If you wish to paint the edges, use appropriate paints with no solvents, as solvents will compromise the foam core center. You can also put grout or thinset over the edges.
