Multi-Art Shapes are precision, laser-cut maple wood backers perfect for both mosaics and painting. They are for Interior use ONLY and are 1/4" thick.

These maple wood panels offer several advantages for mosaic artists and painters: durability of wood, thickness which is easy to frame, smooth surface for painting, natural color of maple, stability, eco-friendliness, and keeps costs lower if you use paints.

For mosaics:

• Before you begin, seal all surfaces and edges with 1/2 weld bond and 1/2 water. Brush on, let dry before starting your mosaic.
• Use Weld Bond for adhesive - Sanded grout works well.
• Paint edges and back if desired with acrylic paints. 
  
• Hanging: You can use our hanging system which can easily be glued onto the back after you have completed your mosaic. See instructions here. Framing is easier with 1/4" thickness.

For painters:

• No sanding or surface smoothing required.
• Acrylic and oil paints work well.
