PATTERNED MULTI-ART BACKERS (MAB'S)

FOR PAINTING AND MOSAICS! Multi-art panels are maple wood backers perfect for both mosaics and painting. They are for Interior use ONLY and are 1/4" thick.

These maple wood panels offer several advantages for mosaic artists and painters:

1) Durability: Maple is a hardwood, making it strong and resistant to damage. This provides a solid and stable surface for both mosaics and painting.

2) Thickness:  1/4” thickness makes them easy to frame; or hang using our special hanging system.

3) Smooth Surface: Maple has a fine grain, resulting in a smooth surface that is ideal for adhering mosaic tiles and application of paint without the interference of wood grain textures.

4) Aesthetic Quality: The light, natural color of maple is visually appealing, especially when left unfinished or given a clear finish; accepts stains well.

5) Stability: Maple is less prone to warping over time which helps maintain the structural integrity of a mosaic and a painting.

6) Eco-Friendliness: As a commonly available and sustainable wood, maple is an environmentally friendly choice for artists concerned about using renewable resources.

For mosaics:

• Before you begin, seal all surfaces and edges with 1/2 weld bond and 1/2 water. Brush on, let dry before starting your mosaic.
• Use Weld Bond for adhesive. 
• Sanded grout works well.
• Paint edges and back if desired with acrylic paints. 
  
• Hanging: 1) You can use our hanging system which can easily be glued onto the back after you have completed your mosaic. See instructions here. 2) Framing is easier with 1/4" thickness.

For painters:

• No sanding or surface smoothing required.
• Acrylic and oil paints work well.
