Directions for Tiling a Skeewbacker Frame
Tiling your Skeewbacker Frame is simple and designed to keep edges clean and professional. Follow these steps for best results:
Note: Install hanging kit as usual. Make sure it is flush with the surface in case the frame covers it and so your tiles will lay flat against the surface as well.
- Flip the frame over - The dotted side (if there is one) should be facing up.
- Don't stick your frame to the table - Lay down Saran Wrap or wax paper, then place the upside down frame on top. This prevents glue from sticking the frame to your table.
- Glue tiles to the inside area of the frame - Use the table surface as your “stop” so tiles will be flush with the top edge when the frame is flipped back over. You can glue tiles to the outside of the frame now if you wish - or you can wait until later.
- Let Dry
- Attach the frame to the backer - Run a bead of glue around the frame. Flip over and carefully line it up with the Skeewbacker Board and press down firmly. Wipe away any excess glue.
- Let dry
-
Tile or paint the remaining outside edges - Finish the frame to match or complement your artwork.
